It’s been way too long since I did…anything on tumblr. I’m definitely going to try and post some stuff, but you know how it is ;). Just letting people know I’m still alive!
CHECK THIS OUT!!!
http://drawn.ca/2009/09/10/the-cat-piano/
A friend pointed me towards this link and it might be one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen.
First, the animation is highly above par. The beatnik/jazzy feel really reverberates through the color and illustration style. The story itself, a vibrant tale on an iniquitous instrument, will draw you in from the beginning to the end.
While the short is visually appealing, the writing and sound behind it is phenomenal. The beat style poetry is nothing short of eloquent, gracefully clever, and if I may so myself…flawless.
Check out The Cat Piano, it’s undoubtedly one of the greatest animations I’ve ever watched, heard, and absorbed. It’s passed Rejected in my books.
City That Never Sleeps ~ Yankees Parade
The other day, me and a few friends checked out the Yankees parade. Before I start…WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WE WON!!!!!!!!!
Now onto business. After a good hour of pushing through the most aggressive people in the world [I still love you, New Yorkers] and a few days worth of calf burn from tip-toeing in vain hopes of seeing anything, the parade started. Realistically, it’s nothing special. Saw a bunch of famous names like Joba, Jeter, Pettite, and Swish. I guess it’s the moment, savoring the victory, and that concordance of unity that makes the parade worthwhile.
I spent the rest of my time in the city doing all that you really can do there with little money. Eat. It was definitely the filthiest, most packed BK I’ve ever been to. But not once did anyone, including myself, question the true condition of their food. Unless you’re planning on dishing out the big bucks on something a tad more luxurious, I suppose you can’t expect much.
Social Interview?
Facebook has a fairly new app…Social Interview. Up to this point I’ve either quickly grown bored with the apps, like bumper stickers, or not even decided to waste my time, the all too popular Farmville. But, Social Interview, whether it’s a passing trend or not, has proven to actually be fun.
If you aren’t familiar with it, it randomly shuffles through various questions, about you or your friends. For the most part, I skip the questions that stay on my page, but I’m currently addicted to answering ones about my close friends. The questions basically provide you with the opportunity to put up an advanced wall post. It works really well if you randomly want to post on someone’s wall but don’t have much to say.
With the chance to be hilarious, cute, complimentary, or downright mean, Social Interview is a pretty fun app to waste your time on. I’m not sure yet on how long it will last, but it’s about 80% of my Facebook time now.
P.S: I think Facebook’s about 80% of my life : /

Emarosa - The Past Should Stay dead
Emarosa as been around for a short while, but have evolved noticeably. This might be due to the addition of vocalist, Johnny Craig, whose voice is refreshingly unique and always on point. The six piece post-hardcore group have attracted fans of various genres due to their inclusion of Craig and his influences being infused into the music. With elements reminiscent of Motown, Boys II Men, and even Aretha Franklin, Craig’s belting notes are highly respectable.
At first listen, you might feel that it’s not your style. But, I beg you to listen to the entire song and even check out others from the fantastic album, Relativity. My other favorites include “Heads or Tails? Real or Not” and “Set It Off Like Napalm”. The music, a non-repetitive and completely different sound on its own, is catchy and addictive.
Check out Relativity! Hopefully, you’ll like the new sound of Emarosa as much as I do.
There Should Be Medication For Writer’s Block
As an aspiring novelist, I’m prone to constantly getting stumped as to my next move. You know it’s bad when you actually wiki writer’s block. I’ve tried everything from just free-flow writing to pacing around to forcing myself to spew something out onto the paper. But, if I’m not in my creative mood [a strange manic state where I become eerily motivated and progressive], I tend to grow bored with all my ideas and have a sharp craving for a fresh and unique new concept.
I’m sure a lot of people have this problem, especially those who like to write. How do you guys get over it? I ask because it’s taking me way longer than expected to finish this gosh darn manuscript…
Zombieland
For those of you who don’t know, I am deeply obsessed with zombie flicks. I don’t know why but the survival horror, sometimes even just survival, genre draws me in. While I can respect the old, black & white films as nostalgic and for setting up the foundations for such masterpieces as the 28…Later series, I’m more into the post-2000’s era.
Anyway, I was eagerly waiting the next big, potential-packed, post-apocalyptic risen undead tale in the form of George A. Romero’s sixth ”dead” film Survival of the Dead. Out of nowhere, Woody Harrelson shows up as a twinkie-starved, gun toting southerner. His target? The relentless zombie horde, of course. Salvation has come.
Hopefully, this next part doesn’t offend too many people, but I was bored the other night and decided…yes, I decided to stream it. I am a Megavideo whore it seems. I searched for a good quality video, eventually found it, and reveled in the next great zombie movie.
And great it was. The two most main characters are dynamic, though they essentially have all been seen before elsewhere. From Jesse Eisenberg’s bunny-stunned awkward Columbus [let’s not argue over him and Michael Cera being the same person] to Woody Harrelson’s comically ruthless and simple Tallahassee, the characters are enjoyable to watch. No offense, but I feel the girls weren’t amazing…but they were needed in the movie.
All of Columbus’ rules in the movie are quite clever and practical when it comes to zombie survival and the cinematography involved in their presentation is done excellently. The movie has several aspects that bring it full circle, as any good movie does.
All I could yearn for is one of two things. That they either amp up the survival horror aspect with more horde scenes or what not. Or that they had followed through with the depth they created in the characters. But, it being a “zomcom” more than a drama, I can let it pass.
Overall, this movie thoroughly earns its 8 out of 10. It’s fun to watch and does eerily well at mixing gruesome carnage with simple, sometimes corny, humor.
P.S: There’s an awesome cameo appearance in the movie. Short though : /
He who sacrifices his conscience to ambition, burns a picture to obtain the ashes.
When ambition’s involved, I’m fully prepared to burn throughout whatever it takes. I wish I could say I valued my conscience high above my romanticized view of success, but idealism simply runs through my veins : /

It’s a dark confession, but I have to get it off my chest. Two weeks ago I became undeniably addicted…to True Blood, that is. I caught snippets of it one morning right after waking up and couldn’t pull away until I spent an entire weekend catching up. The HBO, fully uncensored show, takes to heart the idea that “sex sells” and constantly presents the viewer with sex scenes for all sorts of reasons from intimacy to comic relief. If that, and the use of blood, haven’t shunned you away then you’re ready to to fall in love. The plot pushes the edge of the supernatural into relatable terms and the characters are from such strange ends of the personality spectrum that you actually grow connected to them [my personal favorites being Bill, Sam, and Lafayette]
The only drawbacks that come to mind, besides the aforementioned blood and sex combo, could be that the characters are sometimes a tad bit outrageous. There are also metaphysical ideals, that many people may question. This is definitely one of the shows you will either love or…not be interested in at all. But, if it does catch your eye I can assure you, you won’t be disappointed. Also, HBO has confirmed that the show will be renewed for a third season!
When asked about the other vampire craze
Sam Trammel [actor who plays “Sam Merlotte”]:
“I haven’t seen it, The sense I get is Twilight is PG and ours is bordering on NC-17.”
